Lofty gets ready for the Picnic with this Electric Picnic preview
After an excellent summer of sunshine and music it’s time for the best weekend of the year as the annual pilgrimage to Stradbally takes place next week.
We’ll be covering each day of Electric Picnic in detail for what is sure to be another fantastic weekend of music and entertainment.
As ever the biggest challenge will be trying to get to see as much of the excellent fare on offer whether it’s stimulating our minds and sampling some of the culinary delights in Mindfield, getting rib-tickled in the Comedy Tent or chilling out with some yoga or maybe a dip in a hot-tub to ease the aching muscles?
But it’s music that will be our primary focus here at Ceol Caint and there is of course plenty of that to revel in which means we will be pinging from stage to stage as fast as our legs can carry us.
There are numerous highlights, for people of a certain vintage the return of The Prodigy & Massive Attack is a huge draw and here’s hoping the latter get much better weather than for their last EP appearance. St. Vincent also returns for what is sure to be another exciting performance and Friendly Fires, Nile Rodgers and Jungle will bring the summer vibes to Laois.
Of course we are all about Irish music on Ceol Caint and instead of trying to list all the many fine Irish acts on the bill we’ve put together 90 minutes of great music to get you in the mood for your trip to EP 2018. We’ve only be able highlight only some of the must see gigs that we’ll be at in Other Voices, the Jerry Fish Electric Sideshow, Body & Soul and of course the legendary Salty Dog but there is some much more to enjoy in all the wonderful nooks and crannies that make Electric Picnic such a wonderful experience.
For all of you travelling to Stradbally have a brilliant time and hopefully we’ll bump into some of you over the course of the weekend, but for now sit back and enjoy the music !!
